The membership fees are determined by the Annual General Meeting from time to time, and are currently US$ 1500.00 per annum. The fees are renewable annually.

Core membership of SACAU is open to bona fide national farmers organizations in Southern Africa, provided such organizations represent farmers on a voluntary basis, are reasonably representative of farmers in the relevant country or Southern Africa, are autonomous and legitimate farmer controlled organizations, are independent of political parties, and share common values with SACAU. In addition, associate membership can be granted to regional commodity organisations, agro-business organisations with a regional outreach; agricultural cooperative organisations with a regional outreach, and any organisation with a regional outreach participating in the agricultural value chains.

Any organization wishing to become a member of SACAU shall apply to the AGM of SACAU in writing, provide the necessary information to enable SACAU to establish the extent to which the organization meets above criteria, and furnish SACAU with a copy of its constitution. A statement endorsing SACAU’s constitution must also be furnished.

Where more than one farmers’ organization in a country meet the criteria, all such organizations can qualify for membership.
